Implementations of the “Flexible Working Hours” was Discussed in Women Leadership Platform

A meeting for the Women Leadership Platform, a project started in 2014 with the cooperation of KAGIDER, UPS Turkey, and Turkish Women’s International Network (TurkishWIN) was held on 8th of June at TÜSİAD. The meeting was held under the title of “Flexible Working Hours”, and lots of companies and non-governmental organizations attended the meeting. Garanti Pension, Bernard van Leer Foundation, Arkas Holding, YenidenBiz, UPS Turkey, Zorlu Holding, Arçelik, Nielsen, BP, Unilever, Eczacıbaşı Pharmaceuticals Marketing, Mercedes-Benz Türk, and İDO were attendees of the meeting. 

In the meeting, integration of business world into the changing world, holding efficient employees, and demand of Y generation were emphasized as triggering factors to flexible working hours. Attendees mentioned that implementation of flexible working hours increases efficiency and worker engagement but it is necessary that reactions of managers, who have the anxiety about setback of the work should be manage. Also, it is important to have a framework because of different job descriptions and different perceptions about the business life. They argued that this framework can be support through surveillance, some sanctions, and contracts.
